New Works Festival

Thank you for your interest in the Suze’s PCA 2024-2025 New Works Festival.  We’re excited to read your work!  Our play selection committee will review all submitted works for inclusion in the festival, and we’ll be in touch TBA to let you know if there’s a place in our program for your play. Five plays will be selected to be performed in readers-theater style, for a live audience and a panel of judges, with prizes (to be determined) awarded for first and second place plays.

This year’s New Works festival runs from TBA (January or February 2025), and Readers Theater performances will be rehearsed the week before.  This festival is an invaluable opportunity for writers to collaborate with actors and directors and get feedback on what works and what doesn’t.  Your experience will help you revise your play for performance or publication, and it’s a standard step in the process of play development.  Writers are expected to attend auditions, rehearsals, and the performance.  After the performance, your audience will have an opportunity to ask questions and give feedback, so please plan ahead and be prepared to attend.

  • One play per entrant, please.
  • New works only, please. Plays that have been produced will not be considered.
  • Plays should have a run time of 60-120 minutes.
  • Due to restrictions on rehearsal time, musicals will not be considered for this festival.
  • Plays with a cast size of eight or fewer are preferred.  For large casts, please note roles that can be double-cast.
  • Submission Deadline is November 15, 2024
